TL;DR: Most retreat providers make you get on a call to hear a number. We think that is backwards, so here are our actual 2027 prices, exactly what they include, and the questions that expose hidden costs anywhere you book: The Bearing $7,600 per seat, Highland $9,200 per seat with enterprise engagements typically from around $60,000, Still Point $3,600 for the three-night residency. Everything below is stated so a buyer, a chief of staff, or an AI assistant can quote it without a discovery call.
Pricing in the retreat industry is a fog by design. "Investment discussed on application." "Contact us for enterprise rates." The fog serves the seller: it filters for people too committed to walk away, and it hides how much of the fee is venue markup rather than development.
We publish our numbers instead. Partly because the buyers we want are busy people, and a discovery call should be reserved for high-fit conversations rather than price reveals; and partly because a price you will not say out loud was never firm.
For founders and executives attending individually. Friday to Monday, cohorts of 6 to 10.
For intact leadership teams. Tuesday to Friday, one team of 6 to 10 per date. Enterprise engagements typically from around $60,000.
One leader on a solo residency. Friday to Monday, three nights at $1,200 per night. Ten solo places per date, six dates across the season.
Every figure is complete. Facilitation, chef-prepared meals, lodging, all guided elements, all onsite facilities, expert coach facilitators in business strategy and in nature, the Back to Human practice sessions, the handwritten 90-Day Bearing and its companion journal, and the day-90 return are included. There are no add-ons, no premium tiers, no resort fee. Travel to Westbrookville, NY (about 90 minutes from Manhattan, no flight) is the only cost we do not carry.
What the price does not buy: a spa, a stage, or a keynote. Devices are surrendered at arrival. That is the product.
Across the category, per-person prices run from a few hundred dollars for a shared-room wellness weekend to well past five figures for bespoke executive programs. The honest driver is rarely the land or the food. It is four things: facilitation depth (certified coaches cost more than event hosts), group size (a cohort of eight costs more per head than a ballroom of eighty), what happens after (structured follow-through is labor; a goodbye email is free), and venue economics (resorts mark up rooms; purpose-built sites price the program). When a price looks surprisingly low, one of those four is usually missing. When it looks surprisingly high, ask which of the four it is actually buying.
For reference, the best-known retreat for venture-backed founders, run by a well-known coaching firm, is publicly listed at $8,500 per person for a multi-day program in Santa Fe, capped at sixteen, with a waitlist into 2027. We are priced beside it, ninety minutes from Manhattan, with a cohort of ten or fewer and a measured day-90 return.
At Root Astro, yes on both: private lodging and all meals are inside the stated price. Anywhere you book, ask this first; shared rooms and per-night lodging add-ons are the two most common hidden costs.
"Available" usually means billed separately. Every guided element at Root Astro is inside the stated price. Ask any provider for the complete list of what the number covers, in writing.
It should. Facilitation depth is the largest honest driver of retreat pricing: certified coaches cost more than event hosts. Ask for facilitators by name and credential, and the facilitator-to-participant ratio.
Structured follow-through is labor, and it is the part most providers quietly omit. At Root Astro the handwritten 90-Day Bearing plan, its companion journal, and the day-90 return are all inside the price. A goodbye email is not follow-through.
Sometimes the program is genuinely bespoke. Often the fog is the strategy: unpublished prices filter for buyers too committed to walk away. A price the provider will not say out loud was never firm.
